‘The Hunger Games’ Comes Home on DVD
The biggest movie ever filmed in North Carolina (so far) and the most anticipated home entertainment release of 2012 arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download this Saturday, August 18th, packed with enough bonus features to keep fans satisfied until the sequel opens in theaters next year.
NC’s Maria Howell Catches Fire in ‘The Hunger Games’ Sequel
Lionsgate Studios announced today that Gastonia, North Carolina native Maria Howell (NBC’s Revolution, The Blind Side, The Color Purple) has joined the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as “Seeder”, a former victor of the games, in the big budget sequel due in theaters next year.
UPDATED 8/15/12: NCHollywood.com talked to Maria just hours after the official announcement about her role in the anticipated sequel, but we have been asked by Lionsgate to keep that portion of our chat under wraps for the time being.

‘Hunger Games’ Sequel Will Not Film in NC
It has been rumored and now it appears confirmed that the sequel to The Hunger Games will not film in North Carolina after all, as the production is moving to Georgia.
The Buzz is reporting that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will start filming this summer in Atlanta.
‘Hunger Games’ and Galifianakis Represent NC at MTV Movie Awards
Lionsgate’s record breaking blockbuster The Hunger Games – filmed in various locations throughout North Carolina last year – is nominated for eight honors at tomorrow’s (June 3) MTV Movie Awards, while Wilksboro native funnyman Zach Galifianakis is also nominated for his hilarious work in The Hangover Part II.
