Warner Bros. Pictures announced last week that Tammy will be released in theaters on July 2, 2014, facing off against Disney’s Sleeping Beauty reimagining Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as the evil witch. McCarthy and company will face bigger competition in the comedy Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, which is also scheduled to open on the same day.
Don’t be surprised if this release date gets shifted at some point.

At the time, Mann was not yet the renowned film auteur he is today, but the visionary mastermind behind the ultra stylish NBC cop series Miami Vice.
