‘The Hunger Games’ Comes Home on DVD
The biggest movie ever filmed in North Carolina (so far) and the most anticipated home entertainment release of 2012 arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download this Saturday, August 18th, packed with enough bonus features to keep fans satisfied until the sequel opens in theaters next year.
The Hunger Games two-disc set will include over three hours of unreleased bonus material, including an eight-part documentary entitled The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games, as well as the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping scene.
The release also boasts an ultra-violet digital copy of the film, a conversation with director Gary Ross and Elvis Mitchell, marketing archives, and the featurettes Game Maker: Suzanne Collins and the Hunger Games Phenomenon, Letters from the Rose Garden, and Controlling the Games.
Preparing for The Games: A Director’s Process is also included as an exclusive feature only available in the Blu-ray set.
Lionsgate Studios released a new trailer to promote the event, which you can view in the player below!
This will be Lionsgate’s biggest home entertainment launch to date, as pre-orders on Amazon started in June, kicking off a 12-week countdown to the DVD release - at exactly midnight this Friday night.
Filmed in and around Charlotte, North Carolina in 2011, The Hunger Games broke numerous box office records earlier this year and has made more than $650 million worldwide so far.
