Jaime Pressly is ‘Abby in the Summer’
Our favorite Kinston, North Carolina native Jaime Pressly has signed on to play the lead in the independent film Abby in the Summer, along with Robing Thicke (ABC’s Duets), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), and Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy).
Variety reports that Pressly will play the title character, “an adrenaline junkie who spends 60 hours a week working as a sous chef in a busy kitchen. After accidentally cutting herself one day, she is forced to leave work for the summer, during which she must face the challenge of doing nothing. As temperatures soar, she must deal with a distracted husband (Tygh Runyan) and the temptation of an old flame (Thicke).”
The comedy marks the directorial debut of Jimbo Lee, who also wrote the script.
Jaime Pressly (Joe Dirt, Not Another Teen Movie, I Love You Man) won an Emmy Award for Outstand Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2007 for her role as Joy Turner on the NBC sitcom My Name is Earl.
She most recently starred in last year’s shortlived FOX sitcom I Hate My Teenage Daughter.
Production on Abby begins this week in Los Angeles.
