NC-Filmed ‘Piranha 3DD’ Attacks Theaters
Filmed in Wilmington over a year ago, Dimension Films’ bloody sequel Piranha 3DD will attack theaters this Friday, the latest high profile production to swim from North Carolina to the big screen and the third just this year.
The sequel to 2010′s Piranha (which itself was a remake of the 1978 cult classic) was actually shot in 3D rather than converted in post production.
Filming was completed in Wilmington more than a year ago, but after numerous release delays by the studio, Piranha 3DD finally opens in (limited) theaters and On Demand this Friday, June 1st, promising blood-soaked humor to die for.

Wilmington’s Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park doubled as the fictional ‘Big Wet Water Park’ that is attacked by some very angry fish in the movie.
The cast of beauties and the bewildered includes Gary Busey (The Buddy Holly Story), David Hasselhoff (as himself), Danielle Panabaker (Friday the 13th), Katrina Bowden ( NBC’s 30 Rock), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Sierra Holmes (VH1′s Scream Queens), and Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction), reprising his role from the first film.
Piranha 3DD opens in theaters and On Demand this Friday, June 1st.
