[Now Filming] Nicholas Sparks Movie Sets Up in Southport
The latest big screen adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel will be filmed in Southport, North Carolina, according to WITN.
Crews have reportedly already started building sets for Safe Haven, which will star Julianne Hough (Burlesque, Footloose, Rock of Ages) and Josh Duhamel (Transformers, Touristas).
The plot is ”a young woman with a mysterious past lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her,” according to IMDb.
Southport has previously hosted numerous feature film productions, including Firestarter (1984), Weekend at Bernie’s (1989), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), and the previous Sparks adaptation A Walk to Remember (2002).
